We respect the fact that it can be difficult in choosing a wakeboard school. There are a lot of considerations to take into account. This area is designed to hopefully answer some...or all of the commonly asked questions of a wakeboard school.
Click on any of the questions to reveal the answer...
Why South Bay Wake Academy?
First and foremost, Derek Cook has been in the wakeboard industry for ten years. He is a proven rider as he has appeared in numerous publications and videos, displaying his flawless style of riding.
Off the water Derek's personality and demeanor reflects that of a very humble and approachable individual. He loves to teach, and takes great pleasure in seeing his students succeed with a smile on their face.

Do I have to bring my own board?
If you have your own board that’s great. Riding your own set-up makes you a more consistent rider because you get used to how your board rides.
But if you don’t own a wakeboard, no worries. Gator Boards fully stocked our school this year with demo boards and bindings that will fit everyone’s needs.
Just let us know your height and shoe size so we can bring out the right gear for you on your lesson. And the best part is it’s free of charge every time!

What lakes or waterways do you teach at?
As mentioned‚ we’re based out of Morgan Hill‚ CA. The closest places to go out on the water are Lake Anderson’ Calero’ Coyote’ and the Delta.
We’re also willing to travel to other locations if it works out better for you, additional fees will be added on for travel expenses.

What do I need to bring for the day?
It’s always good to bring out sunscreen‚ water‚ snacks‚ sunglasses‚ and a good attitude. We are all about having fun out on the water‚ so I don’t think that will be a problem.
You will be thrown over board if you aren’t having a good time! Just kidding‚ we feel very strongly in supporting safe instruction here at SBWA.

How old do I have to be?
We do not have any age requirements to take lessons with SBWA. All ages are welcome and encouraged to come learn with us. However, if a child is under the age of 18, he/she needs to have a parent accompany them‚ or their parent just needs to sign a waver.
